"Swamp Thing" Stratocaster Custom Build
PCJ was asked to put together a Stratocaster that would work very much as a workhorse blues guitar.
Given Stevie Ray Vaughan’s ‘Pride and Joy’ as a audio template, the plan was to build a light-weight, straightforward Strat style guitar without any radical finishes or head-spinning wiring.
The budget was also a factor. After talking through the spec we were very quickly heading into Fender® Custom Shop price territory with features like a swamp ash body, compound fretboard radius and Seymour Duncan pickups.
After opting for a Tru-oil finish rather than poly lacquer we were able to put together a pretty unique instrument that would blend into any blues player’s arsenal.
