So here’s one from my own guitar vault that ended up never officially existing. A Chapman Ghost Fret Pro “Autumn Burst” Concept guitar. During the time I worked at Chapman Guitars, we worked on an idea for the first version of the Workshop Series. One of the only models to go through this process was this Ghost Fret Pro model.

After testing out some new finishing techniques I ended up putting together something I’m really happy with.

This multi-colour stained finish along with Matte Black hardware really makes the Chapman Ghost Fret Pro stand out. The Seymour Duncan Distortion in the neck and a Seymour Duncan Alternative 8 bridge pickup giving this guitar everything from warm clean to screaming highs are there at the flick of a switch.

For a failed project that never saw the light of day, it turned into a hell of a guitar!

Construction

Chambered Mahogany body with Flame Maple top. Hand-stained. The entire body and headstock are finished in Tru-oil.

Oil-finished Roasted Maple thru-neck and Indian Ebony fretboard with pearled Infinity logo at 12th fret.

Tru-oil finished headstock with stinger detail at the neck transition.

Glow in the dark side dots.

22 Stainless Steel Jumbo frets.

C-shaped neck profile

648mm (25.5″) scale length.

350mm (13.5″) fretboard radius.

Dual action truss rod, access at the headstock.

14-degree tint headstock with matte black headstock face and a silver embossed Chapman Guitars logo.

Electrics

The pickup choice for the Chapman Ghost Fret Pro Concept is unique but well-balanced.

In the neck is a Seymour Duncan Distortion Humbucker.

In the bridge is a Seymour Duncan Alternative 8 Trembucker.

The pickups are selected via a 3-way Switchcraft toggle switch with a black toggle switch tip.

The master tone control is also a push/pull, coil-split wiring option on the both pickups.

Hardware

The Chapman Ghost Fret Pro Concept is fitted with an upgrade to the original Pro-level hardware.

Open-backed Hipshot Grip-Lock tuners

Graphtech TUSQ XL nut

Hipshot Hardtail bridge

Schaller Strap-locks, jack plate and control knob are also in matte black to keep the finish aesthetic throughout the rest of the guitar.

Accessories

The Chapman Ghost Fret Pro Concept comes with a Hard Case, although not a Chapman original hard case.

Strung with Ernie Ball Slinky 10-46 strings (.010 / .013 / .017 / .026 / .036 / .046)
